Objective
To speed up the use of proven technologies that offer a value proposition for offshore energy.
Aims
- Raise awareness of existing proven technologies and promote increased uptake
- Gather subject matter experts to identify technology solutions to key challenges
- Facilitate sharing of Operators' challenges, deployment experience and supply chain technology solutions
2024 Activity
- Inaugural Subsea Forum meeting bringing together NZTC, GUH, SUT, National Subsea Centre and industry following up actions from 2023 Accelerate Deployment subsea workshop (April 2024)
- Emissions Reduction Technology Showcase, bringing together representatives from operators and technology companies to discuss emission reduction challenges and solutions (May 2024)
- Subject matter expert workshop focused on asset integrity, industry experts to address the question:
“How can we improve offshore production facility performance through better asset integrity delivery at lower cost?” (August 2024) - Regular interaction between Operators and technology developers / providers via the Technology Managers' Network (TMN) including Technology Insights session to provide feedback from the NSTA's UK Stewardship Survey (October 2024)
Progress
The Technology Leadership Board, Accelerate Deployment Workstream, ran an emissions reduction technology showcase at the Net Zero Technology Centre’s base in Aberdeen on 29th May. The event brought together around 70 representatives from operators and technology companies to discuss emission reduction challenges and solutions.
• 10 operators and technology providers shared experiences of deploying emission reduction technologies which have had a real impact.
• 14 technology providers exhibited their emission reduction products.
Topics covered included power generation and compression efficiency, flare and vent gas recovery, and improved flare gas combustion.
With extended networking and exhibitor interactions, there was plenty of time to exchange information and share lessons learned, paving the way for further collaboration.
Attendees agreed that the session was very engaging, had a good balance of presentations between operators and vendors, and succeeded in cultivating open, honest, and productive conversations. A real collective ambition to drive emissions reduction technologies forward was very much on show.
