North Sea Transition
Objective:
To steer the industry to accelerate technology development and uptake to achieve net zero commitments.
Plans:
Engage with key industry stakeholders including energy companies, government, technology organisations, academia and commercial enterprises to understand and influence the landscape underpinning net zero enabling technologies.
Identify existing capabilities and technology gaps and then secure support for funding, developing, piloting and showcasing potential solutions to the net zero challenge.
Progress:
A Net Zero Strategy report is being prepared, which will incorporate existing knowledge and insight covering offshore wind, CCS and hydrogen technologies. It will include the technology roadmap and actions required to achieve net zero goals. The first issue of the report is due in Q2 2022 after which it will be reviewed and updated regularly to reflect progress and changing priorities as they emerge.
